The next configuration tweaks that we will discuss is the ’styles’ directory. This is one of the more complicated files to edit. In your Fluxbox menu, you will notice that there is ’system styles’ and ‘user styles’. The system styles are the styles install with fluxbox. These are stored in /usr/share/fluxbox/styles directory. If you choose to edit one of these styles to your liking, as I always do, you would want to copy it to your users style directory at ~/.fluxbox/styles. After doing so, it will show up in your menu under ‘user styles’. Now, open that file in your favorite text editor and tweak away.

The style file is separated into three main sections that can be edit to change the font used, the colors of the different items and quite a few other aspects of the style.
These sections are:

toolbar
menu
window

Each of these have their own attributes that can be changed. A few examples are:

toolbar.color
toolbar.textColor
menu.title.font
window.title.focus.color

and each of the attributes follow the same syntax as follows:

toolbar.color: #FFFFFF
menu.title.font: terminus-12

Fluxbox styles accept rgb colors (rgb:4/4/38) hex color (#FFFFF) and names of common colors like blue.

I advise editing your style little by little and checking the changes frequently. I also recommend backing up your style file frequently so that you can revert after a change that might not have the effect that you thought that it would.
